TouchNet lends a hand for Haiti relief
TouchNet was proud to lend a helping hand to Heart to Heart International when the January earthquake devastated Haiti. This is not the first time TouchNet has helped Heart to Heart, which is one of the leading providers of medical aid around the world. For many years TouchNet and its employees have been donating money, technical services and volunteer time to the organization that was founded in 1992 by a Kansas City-area physician. TouchNet also absorbs all credit card processing fees for the charity's online donation system so Heart to Heart receives 100 percent of all donations.
"Your system has really streamlined the donation process, resulting in more aid reaching those in need," said Jon North, CEO of Heart to Heart International. "You and your team are truly amazing."
In the wake of the earthquake, TouchNet employees stepped up their hands-on assistance.
Within hours of the news of Haiti's devastation, TouchNet employees began a grassroots aid effort. Heart to Heart asked for basic personal hygiene supplies packaged into individual "Care Kits" including soap, toothpaste, a toothbrush, bandages and more.
A small crew of shoppers spent evenings and a weekend procuring care kit items. Then, TouchNet employees gathered after work to assemble kits and pack them for shipping. In addition, TouchNet employees collected and donated more than $3,000.
Along with the 240 assembled kits, we delivered a company cash match of employee donations to provide more than $5,000 in total assistance for Heart to Heart's Haiti relief efforts.
